Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of infrared sensor modules in five compact packages. The TSSP9xxx AGC 0 devices have a fast response time of 300 μs, providing long-range presence and proximity sensing up to 2 m, and ranges up to 30 m for light curtains and peripheral protection applications.
Compared with the previous generation equipment, the fixed gain sensor provides higher interference intensity without spurious signals, and the output pulse width is closer to the optical burst length. In addition, they provide an almost constant detection threshold over a temperature range of -25C to + 85C and can detect valid IR signals up to higher DC illuminance.
By using variable intensity burst mode, these modules are ideal for fast approaching applications (~ 15ms). The device is ideal for sensing the distance from objects to drones, robots, toys and nearby switches. They can also be used as hand dryers, towel or soap dispensers, toilets, faucets, vending machine drop detection, and reflection sensors for security and pet gates. To simplify the design of these applications, this family of devices offers compact Minimold (TSSP930 ..), Mold (TSSP940 ..), Heimdall (TSSP950 ..), Panhead (TSSP960 ..) and Minicast (TSSP980 ..) software packages .
These modules operate from a supply voltage range of 2V to 3.6V, provide a low supply current of 0.8mA, and provide carrier frequencies of 38kHz and 56kHz. The sensor was created to receive IR pulses from a transmitter with a peak wavelength of 940nm. These devices are insensitive to supply voltage and ripple noise, shield EMI, and IR filters suppress visible light. This series is RoHS compliant, halogen-free and Vishay Green.
