Texas Instruments ONET1130EP is an integrated modulator driver and limiting amplifier designed for operating rates from 1Gbps to 11.7Gbps. Including optical loopback and electrical loopback, a two-wire serial interface allows digital control of functions.
The transmission path includes an adjustable input equalizer, a 300mm microstrip or stripline transmission line for equalizing FR4 printed circuit boards, and an output modulator driver. The output waveform control can be performed in the form of cross-point adjustment and de-emphasis to increase the margin of the optical eyecup. Bias current is provided for the laser and includes an integrated automatic power control (APC) loop to compensate for changes in average optical power with voltage, temperature, and time.
The receive path includes a limiting amplifier with programmable equalization and threshold adjustment, as well as output de-emphasis to compensate for frequency-dependent connectors connected to the device output, microstrip or stripline losses, receiver output amplitude, and The loss of signal assertion level can be adjusted.
ONET1130EP includes internal analog-to-digital converters and digital-to-analog converters to support transceiver management and eliminate the need for dedicated microcontrollers.
The transceiver operates over a -40C to 100C temperature range and is available in a 4mm x 4mm, 32-pin RoHS-compliant VQFN package.
