Sensirion has successfully developed a new high velocity measurement sensor, the SLF3S-4000B, with an innovative design that can measure fluid velocities up to 1 L/min, extending thermal flow measurement to laboratory analysis and industry. As a result, the Swiss sensor maker has expanded its portfolio and is exploring new areas for accurate flow measurement applications.
The new SLF3S-4000B has the same appearance as the three existing traffic sensors in the SLF3x series. The advantages include: Users can continue to take readings using existing cables or software without customization or reprogramming software; A complete portfolio of liquid flow sensors facilitates customers to obtain one-stop service and support at Shengsilui.
To achieve accurate high velocity measurements, higher velocity or larger channel cross sections are usually required. However, both methods increase the likelihood of turbulence. To overcome this hydrodynamic constraint, Sensirion's engineers ingeniously adopted a new design in their development: the passage profile is designed in a W shape. This allows MEMS chips to be placed in narrow side flows (laminar flows) for better measurement performance.
With this highly cost-effective liquid flow sensor, Sensirion fills a gap in the market for high velocity flow measurement sensors in laboratory analysis and industry. It can accurately measure flow rates up to 1 L/min with Shengsi's consistent high quality, and it is only 5 cm long and weighs only 7 grams. Patrick Reith, Liquid Flow Product Manager at Suneri, said, "This new product expands our portfolio and allows us to provide a one-stop service in the field of liquid flow measurement. With the SLF3x series, we can now cover the measurement range from microl/min to 1 L/min with the same product appearance."
