The EL1883 video synchronization separator is manufactured by Elantec's high-performance analog CMOS process. The 8-pin SO package can operate in the temperature range of - 40 ° C to+85 ° C. The device extracts synchronous timing information from standard and non-standard video inputs and Macrovision pulses. It provides composite synchronization, vertical synchronization, burst/back porch timing, and horizontal output. Fixed 70mV synchronous prompt slice provides synchronous edge detection when the video input level is between 0.5VP-P and 2VP-P (synchronous prompt amplitude is 143mV to 572mV).

A single external resistor sets all internal timings to adjust various video standards. The composite synchronization output follows the video pulse in synchronization, and outputs the vertical synchronization pulse on the rising edge of the first vertical sawtooth after the vertical pre equalization string. For non-standard vertical input, when the vertical signal remains low for more than the default delay time of vertical synchronization, a default vertical pulse is output. The horizontal output provides horizontal timing and front and back equalizing pulses.
