The Intersil ISL95311 is a digitally controlled potentiometer (XDCP). The device consists of a resistance array, a wiper switch, a control part and a non-volatile memory. The wiper position is controlled by the I2C interface. The potentiometer is realized by a resistor array composed of 127 resistance elements and a wiper switch network. A tap point reaching the wiper terminal is provided between and at either end of each element.
Pinout
The wiper of a potentiometer has an associated volatile wiper counter register (WR) and a non-volatile initial value register (IVR) that can be written and read directly by the user. The contents of the WR control the position of the wipers on the resistance array via a switch. During power-on, the device recalls IVR content to the corresponding WR.
Block Diagram
The device can be used as a three-terminal potentiometer or a variable resistor at both ends for a wide range of applications, including :LCD contrast control, parameter and bias adjustment, industrial and automotive controls, and mechanical pot replacement
