ROHM has developed the industry's ultra-stable DC-DC converter IC

In recent years, in the automotive field, with the innovation of accident prevention and automatic driving technology, the requirements for safety performance are also getting higher and higher. At the same time, the SoCs and microcontrollers that control ADAS systems, including on-board sensors and cameras, are becoming increasingly complex (increasing the current to improve processing capacity and reducing the voltage to save power), which requires the power ICs that supply them to operate more stably under the severe conditions of load current fluctuations. In order to meet the characteristic requirements of these power ICs, ROHM established the ultra-high speed pulse control technology "Nano Pulse Control" for low-voltage output in 2017 and the high-speed load response technology "QuiCur" for stable operation in 2021. This time, by integrating QuiCur technology into new ROHM products for the first time, the advanced ultra stable operation in the industry has been achieved in the on-board secondary side DC-DC converter IC with the same performance.

The new products meet the requirements of small size, 4A output current, switch operating frequency above 2MHz and 0.6V low-voltage output required by SoC (System on a Chip) and micro controller's secondary side power application with increasingly improved performance. Moreover, by using ROHM's own high-speed load response 3 technology "QuiCur", compared with ordinary products with the same function, the output voltage fluctuation is reduced by 25% to only 30mV, achieving ultra stable operation (test conditions: output voltage 1.2V, output capacitance 44 µ F, load current fluctuation 0 → 2A/2 µ s), This makes it ideal for high-end ADAS applications where power supply conditions are severe (stable operation within ± 5% is also required under low voltage output conditions).

Pin Configuration

In addition, as a new function, it also has a built-in response performance selection function, which can be set in "voltage fluctuation priority (ultra stable operation in the industry)", "capacitor reduction priority (22 μ F small capacity stable operation) ". The expected stable operation can be easily realized not only in the preliminary design, but also in the change of specifications or models. Therefore, it is helpful to significantly reduce the design time of power circuit.
