Skyworks has introduced the latest members of its extensive 802.3BT PoE family, the Si3472 and Si3473 PSE controllers. The new Si3473 can power up to eight 802.3BT two-pair Ethernet ports, each with up to 45W of power, and is backward compatible with the previous generation IEEE 802.3AT and AF standards.
The new Si3474 can power up to four 802.3BT four pairs of Ethernet ports at 90W each and supports efficient 200mOhm current sensing -- the new device can power up to four 802.3BT dual pairs of Ethernet ports at up to 45W each.
Each PSE device provides a fully functional I2C register interface for advanced power management and control. In addition, all of the company's multi-port PSE devices support autonomous or managed operations that automatically detect active PD and disconnect port power when connected PD is removed.
