Lifting applications place special demands on the installation space of the drive. The newly developed MAXXDRIVE XD from NORD is an industrial gearbox with a larger center distance, ideal for U-shaped drives, motors and cable reels.
With the new MAXXDRIVE XD industrial gearbox, NORD is further completing its product range. "We can now offer our customers a fully sourced complete drive solution for cranes", emphasizes Jörg Niermann, Head of Marketing at NORD Group. Like other NORD gearboxes, the new industrial gearbox features NORD's proven and durable UNICASE one-piece housing design. During development, the housing of the MAXXDRIVE XD was specially designed for lifting applications and optimized to withstand downward radial force loads. The slender arrangement of its gear stages allows the mechanical dimensions of this gearbox to have a sufficiently long center-to-center distance to avoid the common oversize problems.
NORD currently offers the new MAXXDRIVE® XD industrial gearboxes in five sizes with center distances from 509 to 963 mm, also in 3- or 4-stage versions. The box dimensions and center distances are the same for the three- and four-level versions, which allows customers to standardize the design and simplify the version when building the crane. Thanks to the 3- and 4-stage versions, the MAXXDRIVE® XD has a wide speed range with a peak rated gear ratio of i=355, and its constant torque throughout the ratio ensures high efficiency during use. "We are delighted to now be able to offer complete drive solutions in an economical and customized way, using our proven NORD quality standards," says Niermann.
NORD MAXXDRIVE XD industrial gearboxes use proven standard components from the range, which offer customers a wide range of options while reducing lead times. In addition, the housing is equipped with an inspection cover, which allows inspection of the internal components without disassembling the gearbox. The product also has gray cast iron (GJL) or ductile iron (GJS) case for users to choose.
The MAXXDRIVE XD industrial gearbox is suitable for a wide range of lifting equipment, from port and container cranes to overhead and gantry cranes, and it is also suitable for container and high-bay storage. As such, it is suitable for a wide range of industries, not just ports, logistics and shipbuilding, but also metals, chemicals, paper as well as mining and bulk cargo transshipment.
