Murata Power Solutions' latest product is the NXJ1 series of single output, high reliability, high isolation, 1W surface mount DC-DC converters, designed for medical products and other applications in the industrial, transportation and telecommunications markets. The compact, low profile series measures only 13.72mm x 10.46mm x 4.36mm and has six models including a nominal input voltage option of 3.3V, 5V or 12VDC and a single output of 3.3V, 5V, 12V or 15VDC.
The NXJ1 series is manufactured using an automated process that also manufactures integrated transformers into the substrate. These technologies help improve product reliability and performance repeatability in a halogen-free inspectable land grid array (iLGA) package. Industry-standard footprints are compatible with previous models, making them ideal for replacement in existing applications and new space-constrained thin designs. The converter has a short-circuit protection function, and its mechanism identification function is waiting for the approval of UL60950 reinforced insulation standard and 4.2kV "high potential" test.
Approved by the rigorous medical safety standard ANSI / AAMI ES60601-1, with 2 MOOP and 1 MOPP identification yet to be resolved, the surface mount isolation NXJ1 is particularly suitable for medical applications.
Ann-Marie Bayliss, Product Manager of Murata Products, said: With UL60950 for reinforced insulation and ANSI / AAMI ES60601-1, and two more MOOP applications, NXJ1 provides enhancements previously not available in miniature thin surface mount products . "
The device operates over the entire industrial temperature range of -40C to + 85C. The company states that it has an MSL rating of 2 and is compatible with J-STD-020 and J-STD-075's peak reflow temperature of 245C.
