Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, today announced the launch of the MLX81346, a high-power single-chip LIN pre-driver up to 2000W. The MLX81346 enables motor control miniaturization and efficient quiet drive through Field Oriented Control (FOC). The device is not only suitable for automotive mechatronic applications - such as oil pumps, engine cooling fans and BL DC positioning actuators, but also for robotic systems and e-bikes/e-scooters.
Not only can the MLX81346 support operation up to 1000W from a 12V supply, it can also deliver up to 2000W from a 48V supply. Its high-voltage capability comes from the silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology it relies on. With the launch of the MLX81346, Melexis has successfully launched a fully integrated system-on-chip (SoC) 48V pre-driver to the market, ahead of other competing products.
The MLX81346 occupies minimal board space and is available in a 32-pin QFN (5mm x 5mm) or 48-pin TQFP48 (7mm x 7mm) package. This small form factor pre-driver was developed as a SEooC (Safety Independent Element) with ASIL B capability. The supported operating temperature range is -40°C to 150°C. All basic circuit protection functions are also included. The MLX81346 is equipped with a 16-bit embedded microcontroller unit (MCU), a 64KB flash memory, and a LIN software stack and LIN interface for connecting to the in-vehicle networking infrastructure. It has 12 GPIOs including 3 high voltage I/Os, 2 UARTs, SPI and I2C. With the support of our recommended third-party partners, customers can quickly program the last stage of the production line through the LIN pin.
"The MLX81346 is the culmination of our third generation of embedded drivers. The family now includes LIN drivers MLX81330 and MLX81332 for 1..10 W applications, and LIN pre-drivers MLX81340, MLX81344 for 10..2000 W applications And the MLX81346,” said Marc Lambrechts, product line manager for embedded motor drivers, “with the introduction of the MLX81346, Melexis is ahead of the competition in bringing a fully integrated system-on-chip (SoC) 48V pre-driver to market. It helps our customers in the automotive and robotics sectors develop compact solutions."
