The AP3783R is a high frequency, high efficiency, high precision switching mode power controller packaged in SOT26 for driving power mosFETs for 5V/2A battery charger/adapter applications. The controller adjusts the output voltage and current of the primary side by piecewise pulse frequency modulation (p-PFM) in intermittent conduction mode (DCM). In each section of p-PFM, the system operating frequency decreases linearly from heavy load to light load. When the load current is equal to the maximum output current of the system, the system enters the constant current mode.
Typical Applications Circuit
The AP3783R offers precise constant voltage (CV), constant current (CC) and excellent dynamic performance without the need for an optical coupler. It also eliminates the need for loop compensation circuits while maintaining stability. The AP3783R provides valley open function and 3 segments of drive current to improve power supply EMI performance. The AP3783R also has built-in fixed cable voltage drop compensation (nominal 8%, 4% and 2% of the system output voltage to meet a variety of cables of different lengths and specifications) and adjustable line voltage compensation.
Schematic diagram
The AP3783R has excellent regulatory performance and high average efficiency, with a start-up time of less than 2s with a 30mW backup power solution. When AP3783R and APR3415 are used together, good downstroke performance and efficiency can be obtained.
