IAR Systems, a global leader in embedded development software and services, announces the Visual Studio Code extension for IAR Systems. Developers can now obtain this extension from the Visual Studio Code Marketplace to harness the power of IAR Systems' professional software solutions for embedded systems within the Visual Studio Code environment.
Over the years, IAR Systems and Azure RTOS have demonstrated excellent product integration capabilities, including the integration of the Azure RTOS ThreadX kernel in the IAR Embedded Workbench debugger. This state-of-the-art debugger integration with Microsoft's Embedded Tools extension includes viewing all Azure RTOS ThreadX objects, setting thread-specific breakpoints, viewing the call stack of a suspended thread, and viewing execution profiles and performance monitoring features unique to Azure RTOS ThreadX. This new extension to IAR Systems brings the same high level of integration capabilities to the Visual Studio Code community. Additionally, this provides IoT developers with a seamless development experience from prototyping to product delivery, enabling an automated development workflow based entirely on GitHub.
"IAR Systems has worked with Microsoft for many years to develop Azure RTOS capabilities for embedded applications," said Amanda Silver, vice president of Microsoft. "Today, we are excited to bring the capabilities of IAR Embedded Workbench to the millions of people using Visual Studio Code. Developers. We look forward to seeing what developers have developed using this technology soon.”
Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR Systems, said: "IAR Systems' Visual Studio Code extension bridges the gap between the leading general-purpose code development environment and the leading embedded development environment, enabling the two to work closely together to achieve 1 + 1 > 2 The result. By giving our mutual users the best solution for both environments, the next generation of smart embedded devices can be developed in the most efficient way for a variety of different use cases and jobs.”
Visual Studio Code extension for IAR Systems, compatible with all latest versions of IAR Embedded Workbench and IAR Build Tools. Additionally, these extensions can be used with other build systems such as CMake, source control, and version extensions like GitHub.
Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR Systems, also said: "The new Visual Studio Code extension on GitHub and Marketplace will greatly improve the way IAR Systems interacts with users and expand our reach, while sharing knowledge and practice with developers, It will also enhance our own expertise in coding.”
