To support a wider range of customer applications, Harwin has added another option to its popular Datamate family of High Reliability (Hi-Rel) connectors. The board-to-board height is 7.3mm when used with the existing Datamate J-Tek connector series, complete with locking screws for secure mounting. The new female connector offers a significantly larger connection height of 17.15 mm, which provides more space between PCBs, giving designers the flexibility to use larger on-board components or route them.
Like all products in the Datamate family, these new connectors feature industry-leading temperature, vibration and shock resistance. As a result, they provide reliable long-term operation and support safety-critical applications even in the most demanding application environments. Additionally, board mount lock screws relieve solder terminal stress, while guide markings aid system engagement.
Engineers developing high-end industrial, aerospace, defense systems and heavy duty portable equipment will benefit from Datamate connectors with extended board-to-board spacing, available in 10, 20 or 30 contact versions in dual row layouts and compatible with existing is compatible with male bulkhead connectors. All bonding contacts are gold plated and terminated in gold or tin.
Ryan Smart, Director of Product Marketing at Harwin, said: "Feedback from our customer base indicates that sometimes the market requires greater board-to-board spacing. These latest extensions to the Datamate connectors provide the stack heights required for certain applications, While maintaining very good mechanical robustness and reliability.”
