ADI has introduced a high-power (44W peak-to-peak) single-pole double-throw silicon switch that enables designers to reduce hardware size and power consumption in cellular radio systems. As the next-generation communications infrastructure develops toward higher data capacity, cellular wireless front-ends must scale down and provide faster speeds to meet growing data usage needs. The ADRF5130 switch meets these requirements by being highly integrated without the need for external components. Compared to existing pin-diode-based solutions, the switch also reduces power consumption to a more efficient level by operating on a single low-voltage power supply with extremely low current consumption. The device is manufactured in silicon technology and is available in a small 4mm x 4mm LFCSP SMT package. It is specified in the 0.7GHz to 3.5GHz band, with a typical 0.6dB insertion loss, high isolation of 50dB, excellent linearity of + 68dBm, and peak power handling capability of 44W in continuous operation mode. This device has a powerful 2000V electrostatic discharge protection function on all device pins. It also integrates a fast CMOS-compatible control interface, switching time is less than 1us. In addition, the symmetrical circuit architecture allows RF inputs to be used interchangeably in high-power applications.
