Power by Linear LTM4662 from Analog Devices is a dual 15A or single 30A step-down µModule regulator in a BGA package with exposed stacked inductors to improve thermal performance. The remaining components, DC-DC controllers, MOSFETs and supporting components are all compression molded. The entire device is packaged in a 11.25mm x 15mm x 5.74mm BGA. With restricted airflow, the device is easy to cool because the inductor transfers heat from the power stage to the surrounding ambient air.
With a peak efficiency of 96%, the device can continuously deliver 30A at 12V to 1.0VOUT at 200VFM airflow and 70C ambient temperature. With a small package size, dual regulator design, and precise voltage accuracy, this device meets the PCB area limitations of densely populated system boards and can power low voltage and high current devices such as ASICs, FPGAs, microprocessors, and GPUs.
