Vishay has expanded its RCWE series of thick-film surface-mount wrap-around chip resistors with new devices in 0612 and 1020 sizes. RCWE0612 and RCWE1020 have long-side terminations, which consume four times the power of standard devices, equivalent to the footprint of 1206 and 2010, saving space and reducing the number of components in telecommunications, computer, industrial, and consumer applications .
The long-side terminations of RCWE0612 and RCWE1020 provide a shorter path for PCB heat dissipation, so that they can provide 1W and 2W rated power, respectively. In addition, their structure reduces mismatch with the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the PCB, thereby improving reliability by reducing the possibility of solder joint cracking caused by thermal cycling.
AEC-Q200 qualified devices can provide extremely low resistance values ??ranging from 0.01ohm to 0.976ohm with tolerances as low as ± 1%, TCRs of ± 100ppm / C, ± 200ppm / C, and ± 300ppm / C. The company says they have been optimized for DC-DC converters, voltage regulation modules and current sensing resistors and shunts in inverters in cell phones, computers, disk drive motor control, inverters in air conditioners and heat pumps.
